Private Sessions

Private lessons, in-person or virtual, are available to train your own dog with a tailored approach. These lessons are specifically geared to the needs of each individual owner-dog team. Lessons can be used to solve a variety of undesired behaviors as well as clarifying training for the owners.

The sessions focus on the owners goal, which can be: basic to advanced obedience and helping owners manage undesired behaviors such as reactivity (barking at dogs or people). I also offer training for service dogs and their handlers. It can designed to solidify obedience, learn how to task train, and solidify public access skills.

This private option is created for owners that would like to learn and be involved in the process of training to their dog's needs, and is only recommended for those who have the desire and drive to follow through with my training instructions. Success is completely based on the owner's participation in the dog's learning.

These lessons are available in single and in a package deal.

What is LIMA?

The Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive Training Method

" LIMA is an acronym for the phrase “Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive”. LIMA describes a trainer or behavior consultant who uses the least intrusive, minimally aversive strategy out of a set of humane and effective tactics likely to succeed in achieving a training or behavior change objective. LIMA adherence also requires consultants to be adequately educated and skilled in order to ensure that the least intrusive and aversive procedure is used.
LIMA does not justify the use of punishment in lieu of other effective interventions and strategies. In the vast majority of cases, desired behavior change can be affected by focusing on the animal’s environment, physical well-being, and operant and classical interventions such as differential reinforcement of an alternative behavior, desensitization, and counter-conditioning.
